Kia Optima buying advice

    Hi all

We've recently returned to Ireland from overseas and we're looking for something roomy with space for three kids. Would prefer an estate over a SUV and don't want/need a 7 seater yet.

In searching done deal etc there's a number of Kia Optima's available at a reasonable price. Lovely looking/specc'd cars and the reviews on them are all good.

It seems that Optimas have recently been discontinued in Ireland - maybe that's the reason for the good pricing? Would that be a turnoff for people? We'd be looking to keep it for at least three years.

Any other reasons why one shouldn't buy a Kia Optima?

    Thanks for any advice!

We'd be looking at about 18,500 and would stretch to 19,000

There were certainly some issues with clutches and gearboxes order 1.7 models. Apparently the 7 year warranty wasn’t as inclusive as it should be going on some stories around here.

I like the Optima but I’m not sure I’d buy one over a Passat, Superb, new Insignia etc.

Yeah my BIL bought a new one in 2017 and the clutch had to be replaced on it after about 7000 km, had a battle getting Kia to cover it too. Hasn't had any bother with it since and there is about 120k km up on it now. Them and the Hyundai i40 are basically the same car.

Have a look at a skoda octavia in your price range. I'd forget about a Kia.

Do the 3 kids require Car Seats or Boosters? It's uncommon to find a car that'll fit 3 if they are needed. You may need to look at MPVs instead.
