Was a civil servant (in a Department) where there were clear rules that you couldn't be a member of a party in the civil service or local government if over a certain grade.

Had a look at my contract and terms and can't see such a ban. I'm working in the public sector in a government agency now. Anyone had any issues with party membership in a similar set up?

Yeah, we can't join or canvass for any party.

This applies to any grade that might have input in policy making.
