Looking at buying a coffee table. Wood, oak. Size is 143cm. Is this too wide?

It depends on where you are putting it?? I'd suggest putting newspaper on the floor in the dimensions of the table and see what it's like.

Thanks for that. In front of sofa I'd say. Yes I'll try the newspaper trick

You'll find loads of info like this online https://www.mydomaine.com/how-to-choose-a-coffee-table.

As it's going in front of a couch, it would be a good idea to make sure it doesn't look too big / small / high / low in front of it.

It will be 2 inches below the sofa cushions (which is a little higher than my old coffee table - and that should be ok)

The room is about 14ft x 13.5ft. The 'foot' of the sofa is 90 inches from the fireplace.

56 inches x 26 are the coffee table measurements.
