Its nowhere, nowhere near as simple as that.

If its found that tax should have been charged, every other state in the EU will be looking for their share.

Mod: Pasting a tweet is not a suitable OP for Politics so I've moved this.

I take it they won't be letting him oversee any big money projects because that's not his bag.

Another Irish politician more interested in Europes interests than Irelands.

That's complete bs. It's unofficial position among EU finance ministers. He would have to attend all the group meetings anyway, the only difference is he is chairing the group now.

Tbf this thing is dragging on with years....if the money is due to anyone in europe etc, give it to em

And work to eliminate tax loophole and cute hoorism across the eu that let such a debacle emerge in first place

(Congrats to the pascel lad...good to see irish people do well)

This is great news. The UK was a strong supporter of Ireland in the EU and with them currently setting their country on fire, Ireland needs other avenues to have our voice heard.

He's a fantastic person to have representing us. He a had a promising career outside politics. He was a director at Procter and Gamble in his late 20s, before entering politics.

Yes. The president needs to be a sitting Finance minister, therefore he is required to be a TD.

    This is rubbish...

    What do you want here?

We are part of a club. The club is called the EU...we are all part of it with many other people from Europe..

It’s fantastic news that we have a man leading a very important role in this club.

Can people not ever just see the advantages? Or is it always the slating?

Our domestic affairs, like those of other EU members are very much all linked to the club!!
