Topic is now banned?

There were a few threads about the current minister for children and some old video or photo.
These threads have been banned/closed. Even mentioning of the topic results in a reply from a mod.

What is this all about? Some sort of censorship perhaps?

Thread moved from Dispute Resolution as this is not contesting a card or ban

The topic was discussed and after extensive discussion the original thread was closed. The second thread started on the same subject was also closed. No censorship - simply a non-story that some posters wanted to make a deal out of because it suited their homophobic views

If it is a non-story, it would have quickly dropped out of the first few pages if users were not interested in it.

Who are the mods to decide what users consider a non story or not?

I have noticed more and more threads get shut down at the whim of mods with no substantial reasoning.

It was a non-story that was being kept active by certain users who seemed to want to create a story out of it because it involved an openly gay TD. It was basically a magnet for homophobes to try and implicate the TD because he had been pictured with an LGBT activist at some time in the past. I explained that when closing the original thread
