    If any old Thief fans are out there, the latest version of the Dark Mod was released, with a load of new bells and whistles.

    For anyone that doesn't know about it, it's a totally free community made stealth game, in a setting as close as they could make it to the (original) Thief games, with lots of fan missions. Some of the fan made missions are incredibly professionally made.

    The latest version launched with a new mission to showcase it, The Painter's Wife, which is honestly as good as anything I've played in any of the Thief games.

    If you like stealth games, you owe to yourself to check it out.

    I've been meaning to get through the Thief games actually. Just installed this though as it was available from the AUR . Unlocking the FPS in the options is mandatory. Seems really nice with the detail on object and door interaction. Simple things like being able to stop a door before it fully opens/closes is something so crucial that a lot of modern games, stealth or otherwise, fail to understand.

    For anyone else downloading/installing it from the AUR. I notice you have to run the game as super user 
    sudo thedarkmod
    to install missions, but play it as standard user to get audio back. The in-game downloader also doesn't seem to be working. Either their servers are down or the client isn't capable of getting on the network. You can still direct download FMs to 
    /opt/thedarkmod/fms/

    Another tip - there are 64 bit and 32 bit versions of the executable. Default shortcut seems to be the 32 bit version but the new mission (The Painter's wife) only worked for me with the 64 bit version. I just finished it tonight, it really is incredible that this wasn't made by a professional studio.
