    Hi,

I've just moved to a new built property and realised there is no landline cable connected from the street to the house. I called the builder who is working next door to check it and he told me that i have to call the company to fix it and thats not his job to do it.
To be honest i dont know anything about buildings and new property.
Is it me who need to contact the landline company or its the builders job. If i have to contact the landline company to whom should i get in touch and is it free connection.

    Thanks

It's up to you to arrange any physical connection to the cable services. The builders usually put in an underground pipe (ducting) to allow a cable to be run. You then need to contact whoever you decide to get a supply from (Eir/Vodafone etc. ) With modern telecoms/internet many people don't need a physical connection. It's not free but you may get a good deal as they want your business.
