2104 2.0 Tdi Ultra EGR cooler needs replacing . Anyone know from experience if it has to be a genuine Audi cooler or is there an equivalent spec oem part I can buy?
How many hours would replacement of this cooler take? Is it a job a competent DIYer could take on?

Best to use a genuine Audi part, the genuine one is bad enough quality, that combined with the time to change it means you really dont want to have to do the job twice.

Book time is around 6 and a half hours for an Audi tech in a kitted workshop. I daresay almost not feasable on a driveway, DIY. If thinking of doing it probably allow 10+ hours.

Thanks. I have a well kitted garage so I'll give it a go. Tempted to get the dpf out and cleaned while I'm in the area . Worth it do you reckon? 136k miles on the car at present.

Anyone know of a best way guide how to remove/ replace facelift 2.0 Tdi (Euro 6 engine)ultra 163bhp EGR cooler . Remove from above or below? Turbo and dpf out ? Looks like a real pain in the ***. I cant find anything online for this particular engine. The DPF is physically in front of the turbo on this engine and the EGR cooler is tight to the block buried under the turbo.
    Not looking forward to it.

    Valeo is genuine.
    PITA job.
If you're kitted out with ramp you'll do in 5 hours if you're handy...
BUT, beware, some of the bolts may shear...
PM me reg and I'll get you part number

In case this is of any help to anyone in the future.
I took out the Egr cooler all from on top of the engine, a lift is not necessary but wouldnt hurt if you had one purely for picking up anything you drop.
I cleaned my cooler using an acid solution and some elbow grease and reinstalled it.
While I was in the area and had time available I removed the DPF and sent it for cleaning as it was reading 62g ASH and max allowed is 80g.
After reasssemly no more limp mode, eng management light or DTC's on VCDS so far

About 6 hrs for cooler out and in another 4 to get dpf in and out as front bumper has to come off and loosen the front of the car. Then an hour for coolant top up and leak checks.
