As they say, it takes a hundred small things to go wrong for an airplane to crash. I think this could be the end of.a death spiral for Fianna Fáil, that started with the victory in the 2002 election. The disconnect with the traditional ’party of the people’ stance that began then and continued through the crash has led them here. After a decade of sackcloth and ashes, the very last thing they needed on return to government was a ministerial scandal (overblown imo) and a hint of weakness on Micheals part.
Both have happened and this government are on the back foot, in a time of crisis.
Leo/Simon/Mary Lou will sweep the boards next time out if they play it right. Apart from a section led by O’Cuiv who picture a historical mending of the 1926 split, the FF voters natural home may be with their formerly estranged war of independence colleagues.
Whatever happens, after 90 odd years, we will, for the first time and foreseeable future, see distinctive, and alternating left/right governments. I can’t see how FF can recover this, from a position of weakness.
    Failed to load the poll.
