Vrt charged me for Vat again

    Hi All,

I bought a new motorcycle from a company unregistered but I paid the vat at the time I bought it. Due to my use of the bike I was undecided to register it. In the end I decided I would.

When I went to the vrt I uploaded the Coc and provided them with my vat receipt and other details, it took some time but they came back with the vrt price and have added tax on again!
I told them I provided them with the vat receipt proving I have paid the vat but they said that does does not matter, on all new vrt you pay the vat and they cannot remove it from the system. The girl called the head office and they said I would have to try get the vat back from the company I bought the bike from. Broke my heart but I had to pay the money in order to avoid late fees and now I have to try get my extra payment of vat back.
Problem is the company have paid the vat on the bike that was purchased.

Right now I've a receipt to say I've paid vat from the shop and another at the vrt office. I've left a message with revenue vrt disputes to see if they can guide me.

Has anybody seen this before? Do I go after vrt office, revenue or the shop.

Pretty sure what you’ve been told is correct.
