It's developed a odd thing. Occasionally is get a rough idle and gets very smoky which is more noticeable as you take off but then clears

As you're driving there is no smoke, power is good, everything feels good.

1-in 10 times you stop at a traffic light after a few seconds as the engine seems to settle slightly it gets a bit smokey it has slightly rough idle, Some day's never happens Some days every light.

Cold or hot seems to make no difference.

smoke is a bit blue it's not a coolant white smoke it's more of an oil type smoke

    Any ideas?

could there be some issue with the PCV valve? Other source of random oil in the air intake side could be from turbo seal.
I'd guess it's something in the PCV system and not turbo seals, not leak past pistons and not a valve guide seal which would smoke on starup or after lengthy idle - but I really know SFA. You could probably change it / clean it yourself and check hoses etc while in there. I don't think it would be expensive for an independent garage to do either.
    something like this

BTW am assuming it blue oil smoke not black half burnt fuel
