Importing: From up North vs Mainland UK

Besides the sheer amount of more options in mainland UK and time/money saved on travel is there any differences in the process? I am looking to spend 10k sterling on a car and wondering if it is worth it to import.

The quality of car i am looking at (Audi A5) seem to be going for around 15k here, ran some calculations and if i could knock a few hundred off a car from up North + VRT it would work out at around 13k but a better quality car. Anyone import such a car from the UK?

Don't really get what you're asking here.
Couldn't possibly be a systematic difference in used cars. They are all unique, different histories, different specs, different prices, different colours..... Find the car you want and if you are willing to travel to get it then go for it.

Like for like, I'd prefer to go north for convenience rather than get a flight and a ferry but if the car across the water was better than the car across the invisible land border I'd be on a flight.

Treat each one on its own individual merits
