I came across a tourist asking some tourist information
I tried to help them as best I could for 3 or 4 minutes, but then I said why not ask in the tourist office. She said they are closed and she tried ringing them but the phones rang out. Anyone know when they are opening again?

Each of the pages for FI tourist centres have this message on them.
Due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus) all Tourist Information Centres operated by Fáilte Ireland are closed to the public until further notice.

    For tourist information, please contact
    · 1850 230 330
    · 01 605 7700

    Example: https://www.discoverireland.ie/Activities-Adventure/dingle-tourist-office/63048

So it looks like they're not yet committing to a specific reopening date.

There's other tourist offices around that aren't operated by Failte Ireland, so they could be working to a different schedule.

Can't remember the last time I used a tourist office for anything since smartphones.

They can be handy for local knowledge that can be hard to dig out of the internet.

Got a recommendation for an amazing drive to a secluded plateau in France last year in a tourist office. There is stuff about it on the web, but not promently enough that you'd pick it out of all the other things to do or see in the area. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the holiday. I didn't want to bother going into the tourist office, as I figured I could find anything I needed on my phone, but my wife insisted. Glad she did now.

They can be handy if you are looking for accommodation in a busy period. If hotels are full, there are a lot of smaller b & b's with little or no online presence and the tourist offices will have an idea of availability and phone them for you.
