They’re quite solid, that shape is around since 2007 so is getting in a bit, but they’ve got decent interior room and are usually well equipped.
They’re in the top tier for reliability for a diesel car in that class IMO, but parts like suspension or brake can be unusually expensive on them without as much aftermarket choice as other brands.
Timing chain on the engine, and the chains dint give issues. Some later ones have DPF but it doesn’t seem to throw up problems either.
Your worst enemy of a car like this is poor maintenance.

cheers for that. It has just 172,000 KM so it is not huge asking around the 5K. It seems a bit pricey but if it is a solid wagon then that's ok.

I drive one, a 1.6 CRDI comfort, has 150,000 on the clock, have it about 4 years at this stage

On the shape, i much prefer the 07 - 11 shape of the 1st gen

than the successor due to that horrible wheel arch design that the 11-17 second gen had

but maybe thats just me. i just find that wheel arch extremely prominent .

on the car itself, ive had to have the 4 brake calipers done as there was problems with them sticking.... seems to have been a common enough issue according to my mechanic. Apart from that its a dream to drive. I keep it regularly serviced with my mechanic and its still humming along nicely.

Its economical, i drive about 50km per day on average, a full tank of 53 litres gets me just shy of 500 miles.

The pick up in it for a 1.6 is very decent. it will do 120+ on the motorway as smooth as you like, nothing shaking, and you can easily put another 30 km onto that without noticing.

There’s different power outputs on that engine. The mother has the higher version and it’s def quicker than you’d think it should be.

That's pricey for a mk1 car look dated now if you upped the budget you could get the mk2 https://www.usedcarsni.com/268997556

It’s the going rate for them though. All that talking up I do of them has caused values to harden!

The wife's niece got a petrol 2015 se in Scotland for 9 grand in total a much more modern stylish car and I don't think they will age well either
