    A question!

Is there a specific law in Ireland around how long ISPs can retain browsing data/IP addresses etc for?

    Thanks

There used to be, but it was struck down by the CJEU. There’s no such law anymore, so retention is no longer allowed.

    Google Data Retention Directive

Seems like a very grey area, no ammended Irish bill in place as of yet it seems

That’s the point. Retention is illegal as a result. There’s no European replacement for it yet either.

    Incorrect.

Just because the data retention directive has been rendered invalid does not mean companies default to not retaining any data.
