Hi I am looking for some advise please.

I am in receipt of the covid 19 payment since April when I had no childcare for my little one.

my mum was her minder but she was diagnosed with cancer. I had planned to claim carers benefit for her when she had surgery as we were told she would need surgery and treatment. However after the surgery she was given the all clear and would no longer need treatment but it would be 12 weeks before she would be in full health at least.  Even now she still needs my help around the home with cooking cleaning shopping etc.

My parents are both in poor health my dad is in his 80s with heart conditions and my mum is in her 70s also in poor health with arthritis, sleep apnea and more recently the cancer. As it stands my mum still isn't fit to mind my little one but my next problem is that I also pregnant very early stages and don't feel safe returning to my job as i have had 2 miscarriages before and also suffered with Ill health on my other pregnancy. I feel that I should give up work and focus on my health and child as its stressing me out thinking about having to go back.
I do plan on doing an online course in sept and once baby is born getting a new job.
My query is ...am i entitled to claim anything from social welfare? Should I apply for carers benefit or something else? Will I get any payment when I eventually have the baby as in maternity benefit?
    Thank you

you could see if a doctor will sign you off for a while and go on illness benifit.

If you voluntarily quit your job for health reasons then theres no social welfare payment to recieve.
If your signed off and keep the job thats different

You need to be in employment in the 24th week of your pregnancy to claim any form of maternity benifit

for carers youd need to prove you are full time caring for one or both of your parents long term, and this would also have a wait time for it to be processed

I walked out of my job in February, walked down to the office that day and applied for jobseekers benefit. So for now you can apply for that surely if you've been working for a couple of years at least?

My payment was granted within a few days, they didn't disqualify me, suppose it depends on the circumstances
