I have a Soarview Aerial and Sky Dish for tuning in FTA UK Channels.

Signal from both is combined into one cable

Cable then runs directly to single TV - I have a Sony tv with seperate tuners for Soarview and Sat - I can tune in either set of channels when connecting the cable with combined signal to the correct tuner, but once i split the signal only one or the other signal is still available - am i missing something should it be possible to split the cable, connect to both tuners and receive signal on both - is it just a simple splitter i need or something else to filter the 2 signals?

you need a special splitter to separate the signals. A wall plate version is also available if your cable comes from a wall box.

Thanks - so basically the combiner just works in reverse! Great - that was driving me mad. Thanks.

At the receiver end, a 'simple' splitter should work if it passes the frequencies needed, & power on the satellite side, though signal loss would probably be a bit higher than with the filtered one.
