    Hi,

I currently have alloys with the following tyres; 215/55 R16. Can I replace the tyres with these; 205/60 R16?

    Cheers ;)

    Yes you can.

The tyre will obviously be 10mm narrower though.

Outer radius is only 1% out.

You could also look at 225/50R16

I was always curious about this.
Mine are 235/35/19s and while I appreciate the 19s will not change.
I also am thinking that the 35 won't matter that much as its the depth of the tyre right?
So is there anyway to find out what width, in my case 235, can be increased or decreased too?

The 35 is a percentage of the width and is the sidewall size.

So the sidewall on a 265/35 is much bigger than on a 205/35

One factor when changing tyre width is the wheel width.

Cool thanks, I will check it out with the local mechanic and see what he says. Partners mother bought a new car that came with summer tyres which she doesn't need. We need both summer and winter tyres in our area. Current summer tyres need to replaced in the next week or so.

This is a good tyre size calculator which allows you to play around with the original and various alternative tyre sizes to see what difference it makes to your speedo ...

    https://tiresize.com/comparison

(BTW, Set the size unit to mm and it'll also change the speedometer error from mph to km/h)
