i have a thread open elsewhere in relation to the vehicle in question so if opening this is against the rules ? , i apologise in advance

looking for a toyota specialist , either east or west of the country will do , i live west of the shannon , person who owns the vehicle lives east so dublin , galway , limerick or athlone is fine or somewhere in between

i know a ford specialist in dublin but dont know any other independent brand specialist so any suggestions would be most welcome

    thanks

Hybrid? Diesel? What is the issue?

We don't know what the other thread is, so have no idea what the issue is or if a brand-specific "specialist" is required at all...

    hi

i referred to the other thread in case i was in breach of the charter , opening two similar threads

its a vehicle belonging to someone close to me , suspicion surrounding engine servicing , they took the word of the seller that it had a full service history which was obviously foolish , turns out there only stamp in the manual is at 59000 km despite the vehicle ( landcruiser ) only being three years old

add to that , there was a discrepancy regarding the odometer on motorcheck records , would like to get odometer checked for potential clocking , the potential wear on engine is more important to investigate however

what's with the cloak and dagger posts?

In short: You are looking for someone to do a good check-over on a 2017 landcruiser.

Have you considered toyota themselves or is it preferred to use an independent garage?

ive already stated i have another thread elsewhere and didnt want to be in breach of charter , no mystery here or attempt at evasiveness

its often better to get an independent specialist , dealerships often have an apprentice working on vehicles etc , not a question of main dealer charges either , just the lotto of who works on it on the day

I read your other post on this, and it seemed very clear that a processing error where miles were entered instead of km accounts pretty much exactly for the discrepancy you mention. Add to that, a 30 or 40 thousand km difference on a cruiser has almost no effect on its sale value, these are designed for big mileage, so why anyone would bother trying to shave that off the clock is beyond me. you seem to trust one reading from motorcheck more than every other sign relating to the vehicle

the miles instead of km input doesnt actually check out perfectly but you are correct in saying that a vehicle with 104000 km would not be worth that much less than one with 60000 km , you only have to look on cars ireland or DD to see that

main area of concern here is absolutely the lack of service history , it would be good to have it checked thoroughly as a result

would be grateful to anyone who can recommend a toyota specialist

Ok, I get you. Stamps in a book are only just that. Any experienced mechanic should be able to give it a once over to look for excessive wear. It doesn't have much mileage on it, so I wouldn't be overly concerned. (I have half over half a million km on mine). If it was me, new filters, good engine oil, gearbox, transfer box and diff oils, and drive on.

He's a bit out of the way but Brian at Carbury light commercials is very good, and has been a 4x4 man for years.

I had a landcruiser 2 seater for many years myself but only had 26000km when I bought it and I serviced it religiously every 15000 km after that until I sold it with 230000 km

This one had 59000km without ever seeing a service or at least there is no evidence to prove otherwise

    That's carbury kildare, yes ?

Yes, I don't have his number to hand, but he's listed online.

If you're in or near Limerick, Brian Geary's (the Toyota dealer) is where you should be going. They're excellent, the folks have been buying and servicing cars with them for nearly 40 years, and I can tell you I notice the difference any time the cars have been serviced by them.
