Virgin Media cable

    Hi guys,

So i've been having problems with my internet connection in my apartment (randomly drops signal). I'm with Virgin Media who came out and tested the line, they found that there's something wrong with the physical cable running from the main "box" (can't remember the name of it) in the underground carpark up to the wall point in my living room and it needs to be replaced.

The technician said the only fix would be to run a new cable on the front of the apartment building which requires approval from the management company, I'm on the third floor so it's a bit of way up from the street connection.

I called the management company who said it can't be allowed as it would affect the aesthetics of the building blah blah blah. They said that the cable can be run through some pre existing choote or shaft that feeds down into the box in the carpark.

I rang Virgin and told them this and said that should be fine, the guy comes out this morning and basically said it can't be done.

So you can imagine I'm at a bit of a loss here. Is one of them bull****ting? It's a bit frustrating as they management company are only taking voicemail at the moment and I'm acting as a go between with the two parties.

Any help or advice would be welcome.

    Cheers

Sounds like you may need to get the Management Co. to run the cable, or pay for your own electrician to do it

If I had to bet Virgin could probably manage it but it'd be a headache of a job and they love to take the easiest path possible. Either side could be correct though.

With a good management agent this would be painful but workable. If yours is a bit crap expect to pull a lot of hair out.
