What is the next step with eBay order?

I don't do much business through ebay, and I have come unstuck with an order. Can anyone understand what I need to be doing here please?

I placed an order with a large company in Germany

Paypal wanted me to update my address, which I did, I forgot to update delivery address

As I hit send on the order I realised the delivery address was wrong.

I made the adjustment in Paypal then went to see what had happened with the order.

The Paypal payment had already gone through, within two or three minutes of placing the order.

    I contacted firm to cancel

They sent me a note agreeing

Ebay said I should accept the cancellation only if I had received a refund or the payment had not yet gone through.

Firm are saying that ebay are saying that I have not accepted the cancellation (I haven't).

I have asked them to refund, they say they cannot do anything till the cancellation has been confirmed.

Do I confirm against ebay advice (ie I have not received refund) or where do I go from here?

    Mod clarified the title.

Thank you for that. Yes in the end I did accept the cancellation, though Paypal says very clearly that you should not accept if you have paid and not received a refund. Any way I accepted it and the vendor refunded.
