Insulation in Attic

I am looking to top up the insulation in attic. I had someone go up and have a look around, he took photos and wires/pipes running everywhere.

In this situation should I just install Earthwool and roll over all these wires etc or look at an alternative like foam?

At present the house just has a bit of insulation between the joists. nothing over them. The attic space has a section floored so this is over all the rest which will never be used for anything

Why top up your attic insulation?
    What's your air tightness like?

    Help to reduce heat loss.

Air tighness was done on windows when I put new ones in, but nothing else. House was build circa 1970

Just a thought, but would you not be better to first have a survey for heat loss done and use that to focus your efforts on tackling the heat loss.

Op, you just cannot roll insulation out over the elec cables, especially the sockets/showers/cooker one.
They will need to be sleeved as they are disked to be air cooled.
Airtightness is a whole of house project, not just windows.

Air passing through insulation makes the insulation useless
