Getting a car's NCT updated / amended - how to?

    Hello All,

I am considering buying a Car which has an inconsistency on its mileage history.

Car seems genuine and has a full main dealer service history all in Kms.

It went for NCT in late 2019 and it seems like the NCT inspector ticked Miles instead of Kms when they input the reading and printed the NCT cert.

According to Cartell, this happens fairly often.

The dealer selling the car has provided a SIMI report which tallies up with the Main Dealer history and are all in Kms.

If the Miles on the NCT were converted to Kms , it seems to all stack up with the Kms on the timeline with the servicing and current reading.

My question is :- Is it easy to get the NCT changed from Miles to Kms ?

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Chevy RV

I could be wrong but I don't think they will amend it retrospectively. They would at the time of it being issued and spotted before you left the test centre but not after that.

    Thanks bazz26,

What happens if one gets lost - would they not have to re-issue one then?

They would just reissue one with the same details afaik.

It says on the cert highlighted in yellow that you should check the odometer reading. They won’t change it unless you point it out straight away unfortunately
