Looks like my second Optoma (GT1080E) is starting to act up (fan occasionally not working), this is more of a question to start building up the slush-fund. Has to be short throw, can be ceiling mounted, at least 1080p and not cost the same as a cottage in Connemara !! recommendations please?

    Hi Kingaaa,

If you're looking for a short throw that isn't an Optoma I would recommend the Benq W1210ST at £779/949 euro!

The Benq are great projectors as well! It's short throw, can be ceiling mounted and is a Full HD projector!

Let me know what you think of this option!

    Kind regards

    David

looks good David, but in all the throw calculators its nearly double the distance from my screen as the Optoma to project the same size, is this right?

    Hi Kingaa.

It does seem that way in the calculations.

Just to double check, what size of screen are you using?

You could maybe check out the LG HU80KSW priced at £1999 which has been very popular. (Special Order product)

    Hey Kingaa.

BenQ's own distance calculator say 80 inches it need to be away to fill a 133 Inch screen.
    https://projectorcalculator.benq.com/

There isn't really any other short throw projectors available to us at the moment that isn't Optoma or desk mounted.

    Hey Kingaa.

I think it will  only do up to 106 Inches.

The calculator on Optoma's website has 81.31" - 106.61" as its tolerance for working out the distance but its rated at 80" - 100" for screen size.

    Hey Kingaa.

I'll keep my eye out for any other short throw that might become available.

Most the short throw one seem to be desktop aimed and don't offer a ceiling mounted option.
