Thoughts on this case? I think it would be bad if the court gives this the green light because it would basically mean that there is nothing to stop a government from the previous dail going a whole 5 year term in these hung dail situations. www.rte.ie/news/2020/0624/1149268-seanad-high-court-action

Could be a moot point by the weekend if a new Taoiseach is elected on Saturday.

If a majority of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann approve legislation, then there should be no problem, and for Seanad Éireann, the majority should be 31, then there is no issue.

It does raise an interesting question re: the 11 appointees by the Taoiseach which are the sticking point.
If a Taoiseach is elected on the back of the proposed PfG it will be Martin so it will technically fall to him to nominate the 11 - however, given the programme calls for Varadkar to become Taoiseach in Dec 2022 how will that impact, if at all, on the nominations?
Will they decide between them who gets the nod?

The proposal is that they will divide it 4 FF, 4 FG, 2 GP and 1 Ind (likely Ian Marshall).

There is no provision for replacing the previous Taoiseach's nominees (unless they resign of their own decision) if there is a swap mid way through; even if its a total change of lead party like in 1994.
