    How's it going lads.
I'll tell ye my story. I started my journey about 2 and a half years ago, doing my lessons but the leaving cert got in the way so I stopped about half way through. In 2019 I finished my lessons, and I have not been with my instructor since maybe October. I have been practising since. I was planning on booking my test to do around now, but COVID happen obviously.

I wouldn't call myself a fantastic driver. I can drive, but I can be quite nervous at times. I feel like I know the rules of the road really well, I'm good at setting off and stopping, and working my way through the gears. I can reverse around a corner, do turnabouts and hill-start fairly well. However, I feel as if I just won't pass the test. My sponsors think I'm a good driver, sensible and knowledgeable, but I genuinely just don't think I'll pass it for whatever reason. The pre-test questions and mechanical questions scare me more than the driving part. I also hear of friends failing for little silly reasons, and I think that I could do just the same.

I don't know whether I should book the test, as it's likely to be months away let's be honest, get 1 more lesson with the instructor to see if he think's I'm good, then do it OR book the test and just do it. Paying for the test isn't really an issue, I'm just between two minds.

Would appreciate some other opinions on yer own experience and whether it's worth just going for it without worrying about failing.

Go to an ADI. Get assessed. Follow their advice. Best of luck
