Day trip on to Arranmore (should be available from the 29th, if there's a continuing request from the islanders not to go, don't - the food places won't be open anyway in that case)

Ionad Cois Locha hasn't got a reopening date up yet as far as I can see but I suspect they'll be open quickly enough; ditto the museum in Glenties - can use up a bit of time on a wet day.

Glenveagh even if the visitor centre/castle aren't reopened is worth a drive for the scenery.

Nobody should be going to Arranmore for the foreseeable future.

Go out to Maghery, and take a walk/cycle/drive on the southern road round crohy head to meenacross.
You have the old signal tower, the EIRE WW2 signs. sea stacks, and a fantastic view south towards Portnoo and the mountains beyond Ardara. I was out there on sunday, a place i dont think i ever was a youngster, its beautiful

Nobody should be going to Arranmore for the foreseeable future.

Cabinet meeting today is going to decide whether to stick with the 29th or not and the feeling was that Arranmore (and Inishmore) would go with the government date due to having full time medical facilities; which the smaller islands don't; it looks as if the Island Federation didn't come to a single agreed decision on a delay

If the decision is to kick it out further you won't get on the island to begin with as the ferry companies aren't going to go against it.

edit: The co-op is reopening their cafe/restaurant on July 3rd and one of the ferry companys is increasing sailings from today so they're clearly expecting visitors.

    Thanks for the replies

Parents in their 70's so no cycling and maintaining usual protocols

2 year old child and was looking at Fintown Railway but that is closed for the remainder of the year

Will be chilling but if weather good head to some beaches and take it some scenery as taking the car

    Keep suggestions coming

Arranmore is reopening for tourism on Monday; although the cafe in the hostel and at the holiday park are only reopening on Friday. Earlys Bar will be open for food from Monday.

Have a look here. Some great suggestions of where to go and what to do. The listing was prepared a few years ago but should be generally accurate.
