Son is looking at a 2008 Mini Clubman Automatic with 80k Miles. Has a good few extras. It's a 1.6 Turbo. Anything we should look out for ? Thanks.

Is it a Cooper S? Mine was a launch model reg’d 12.12.07. Leaking from the coolant thermostat leading to overheating was my problem. Hilariously it manifested itself 500m from the service garage as I was dropping it for an MOT. It was replaced under warranty and I understood at the time that it was a common fault.

Another which I did not suffer was timing chain rattle from the tensioner being faulty. I understand this was a very common fault and lots of paperwork issued. Not sure if there was a formal recall. You’d is fairly low mileage for a 2008 so I’d check that out.

The only frustrations I ever had with that car were (1) lack of Bluetooth (despite sat nav and every other extra- my fault for buying a 6 month old dealer model) and (2) a tendency for the rear split seats to squeak when the rear was empty.

Mine was many as l and had such a tight direct gearbox. I loved it.

Sadly the car is not for us. Is was damaged on every panel, the head had been re done and piston rings replaced as well as the oil cooler and coolant tank. The stripes were "removed" from the bonnet and he didn't know why  we suspect a front end crash and re paint but the paint under the stripes was faded . So onwards and upwards. I'll keep looking for a car for him. Thanks for the replies.
