How much tax/insurance should I expect to pay on a 10+ year old car, costing €2-3k? Is there a website to check make/models?

    Cheers.

Be aware that insurance companies quotes can vary widely. So if you see a car you like stick it in as many companies as possible.

A couple of tips. Never value the car below €5k, they will only pay book value if you claim, and check fully compressive prices, I was getting quotes for my Mother and 3rd party was €1.7k while fully comp only €450.

    Great advice, thanks.

My no claims bonus has expired having not owned a car for a few years. Just had a quick look at Chill & their insurance quote €1600 for a €3500 car - almost half the value of the car! Any tips on getting around that?

Put a friend or relative on the car as an additional named driver if they have a full licence with no penalty points, this will reduce your premium, odd but it works. €1600 for no existing no claims is actually a good quote, sorry so say.

As said €1600 for with NCD is good value, I'm paying close to a grand with full NCD, along with adding a named driver try a few other companies as they could be cheaper.
