    Hi Guys,
I recently sent my Licence in for renewal, and the NDLS gave me a letter as a temporary licence. Can I still book NCT and bring that, with a passport to do the test???

Do you have a Public Services Card?
    Documents required at the NCT
Ensure you bring your vehicle registration book, registration certificate or licensing certificate with you to the test centre.

You bring identification in the form of Driving Licence or Public Services Card with you on the day of the test.

Failure to provide identification will result in the vehicle not being issued with an NCT certificate at the time of the test.

The NDLS took old licence off me when I go to do application, and gave me that piece of paper

Car will still be tested, you just don't get the cert without valid ID.
Bring what you have and see how it goes.

Get your dad, brother sister or mother or friend to do it or come with you. Show licence and away you go.

or borrow a licence from anyone - they don't really look at the licence (at least they don't at the centre I go to).
as long as the guy can tick the box that a licence was presented, you get your cert

    Use your passport as identification.

Passport is not a valid ID at NCT

The Regulations also permit the details on the form of identification to be recorded by an NCT Test Centre. The data recorded is held for a period of 12 months and then deleted.

As the Data Protection Commissioner would not permit the recording and retention of passport details, the use of a passport for identification purposes was stopped.
