    Evening All,

Can anyone recommend a bike rack for a 2015 BMW 520d saloon to carry 2 bikes?

    Car has no tow bar.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, feel free to move Mods

If you care about your bikes I'd recommend a roof mounted rack.

You buy the roof bars set, two of those racks I link to, a foot set for your bars, and a conversion kit for the foot set so that it works with you car make/model. About 500 euro for all of this, but it's worth it because the bikes won't rub together in transit and won't get damaged.

PS: I'd highly encourage you not to get the type that biko linked to: it will probably scratch your car, and will definitely damage your bikes because they will rub off each other in transit. I had one of them for a few years so I know what I'm talking about. You can mitigate the rub slightly by using foam pipe insulation or rags, but it's a pain in the hole and doesn't really stop them rubbing.

While I'd recommend a roof rack too, they can be a pain if you do any out of town as even the aerodynamic versions can whistle in the wind.

Towbar is great, but expensive all in.

As for a rear mounted rack, something like the Thule RaceWay would be least likely to damage paint. You can also get clear protection stickers for the care paint which help. Finally, the rear carriers can sometimes be a pain with mountain bikes, and are often not compatible with wide eBike frame.
