Hi, im looking at a second hand car later this evening after work and hoping all goes well im going to buy it. Only thing is my insurance is through the broker Aaran insurance with RSA and they close on the weekend. Would RSA temporarily insure me until Monday until i can get in touch with my broker?

    Thanks.

Only if you can get in touch with RSA and they agree to cover you.

Note that once you hand over the money, you now own the car so your 'driving other cars' cover will not apply i.e. you wil not be insured to drive it unless you arrange cover over the phone.

A solution would be to bring a friend who has his own insurance with 'driving other cars' cover (but not with Aviva or Liberty) and let him drive the car. Aviva and Liberty insist that there is a policy in force for the car (which clearly will not be the case) so someone insured with them can't drive it.
