I see Ryanair are open for business according to their site, and flying from July 1st
My question is - will these flights actually take off ?
My worry isnt about some covid related issues stopping them, but Ryanair pulling the plug because planes are half empty !

    Yes, they will fly.

Ryanair are cancelling july flights/holidays still atm but only ones that were booked before the new situation.

I'm glad this question has been brought up.

It's a worry. My query isn't with Ryanair or Aer Lingus but flights from Canada.
My daughter and her husband are trying to book flights back from Vancouver end July/ beginning August. He has got a new job here in Ireland so they are relocating back home.
They booked a flight back on 30th July from Vancouver, via Calgery and on to Dublin with WestJet. 2 days later this flight was cancelled! Why were WestJet selling it anyway? They have put the flight back 5 days - dep Aug 5th but now they are worried this too could be cancelled.

She will be 6 months pregnant at the stage of flying and has a 15 month old toddler travelling with them plus all their belongings. To say its stressful is an understatement.....

I see it being alot harder for trans atlantic flights coming back for the foreseeable future

I have return flights to France for early July booked since last October. They have not been cancelled. I am in limbo as the government advisory is against non essential travel therefore travel insurance and E11 will not cover me if I go. Travel insurance will not pay out unless the travel advisory still stands on the departure day. Is there some authority or ombudsman type that this can be raised with?

My friends daughter came home from Canada 3 weeks ago, she came through London. Not sure who she flew with, can check for you if you want?

Why would e11 not cover you? No need for hysteria, if you fall ill you will be covered as an eu citizen.
Not sure about insurance. If flights go, you are not going top get a pay out, irrespective of govt advisory.

That would be great bubblypop , thanks a million. If your friend's daughter was coming from Toronto that would be a lot more straightforward, maybe Toronto-London was direct, but I'd be very interested if she made it back from Vancouver. The more stops the harder it is to plan, especially with a 15 month old. Thanks!

Yep, sorry she came from Toronto via London with air Canada.
She had one flight cancelled few weeks before she was due to fly, but that one took off ok.
She was supposed to have hour & half in London, but ended up waiting 8 hours, cos they cancelled the earlier flight.
Not ideal with a baby & pregnant lady :(

Following this thread. Flights booked for 1st of July to Spain . They haven’t been cancelled. Have a rolling travel insurance that renews each May . The new renewed policy has a Covid exception in there - so I was advised when I called VHI today . So even though I booked these flights in January I’m now not covered if the flights don’t get cancelled and government advise against flying . If I do fly I’m not covered for insurance because government advising against . I can’t transfer the flights to next year as flights not available yet . If I do transfer later in the year to somewhere else it costs 80 cuid per person and another 16 cuid each for a seat change even though it’s a new flight . If the new flight cheaper I still pay full transfer and but loose flight price differences .

Eager to know if anybody is aware of any other info that may result in me getting vouchers or a refund ?

    Hi Bluesquare,
Similar to my scenario, here's hoping we find a resolution.

Snap! Due to fly to Lanzarote on July 5, returning July 20. Standing to lose €1,700 on the flights. Contacted TDs etc. on the angle of Ryanair flying despite govt's stance on non-essential travel. A few have come back but their hands are tied. Looks like the govt. are slow to go against Dr. Tony, despite the most of Europe re-opening or open by July 1. Originally it was all about flatening the curve but it now looks like they want to steamroll it, all while the economy and people's mental health slowly crumbles to pieces. Govt. need to grow a pair soon.

We were due to fly Shannon to New York with Aer Lingus in 5 weeks time (needless to say we wont be going). A.L are not flying transatlantic at the moment from Shannon, when I look at their website, it's claiming all their flights on this route are "sold out" until August 30th so I'm guessing our flights will actually not fly. I spoke to A.L the other day, they wouldn't say if our flights would be cancelled, all they would say was that we could either reschedule or IF they cancelled we SHOULD be contacted 3 to to 5 days before our departure. Rescheduling isn't really an option as we were going for a family event and we have no new dates.
Anyone flying transatlantic from Shannon over the next 2 months and heard anything?

The second surge is happening. The weekend brought the largest number of new diagnoses ever. Countries are reintroducing at least partial restrictions. I'm glad we're being cautious.

Fingers crossed we finally get the young Latvian mother and child home on their latest flight in early July. It's the 5th booking I think. I've kind of lost count.

Flights from Cork to Majorca with Aer Lingus are all 'sold out' until late August. We have tickets for late July and they're not telling us whether it's going ahead or not.

I wouldn't mind but if the accomodation isn't cancelled more than 7 days before the trip I lose the lot so it's not ideal.

Am I better off booking with Ryanair to cover myself as they have flights scheduled ? I'll have to stomach waiting months on end then for AL to refund the tickets.

Had a flight for Bilbao in July and noticed all sold out until August, got cancelation email 2 days ago so I'd say the same will happen you

We were due to fly out this Thursday 25th with Aer Lingus Cork to Palma. I had heard nothing at all so I rang them last week (50 minutes on hold) and they confirmed that all of their Cork to Mallorca flights are cancelled for July.. I asked for the earliest rescheduled booking and the agent said nothing was appearing as available until early August. So Aer Lingus are being very very cautious and sticking to the government advice, unlike Ryanair. I opted to fill out the refund form online for my 110% voucher, so I'll probably get that in 2021 sometime...

So we booked an outgoing flight for 3rd July Cork to Mallorca with Ryanair, since we had already booked our return flight with them way back in January. Ryanair do seem to be flying. Departing 06:10 in the morning....

Personally if I was going to Mallorca next week to stay in a hotel I wouldn't go at all. If it was an airbnb in a not-too-heavily-built-up area with it's own pool, that'd be fine. We're only going because its family who live there fulltime in the middle of nowhere. The next couple of weeks will tell a lot but hopefully end of July will be fine for ye.

I'm in same situation, flight booked for 20 July with click and go. Been emailing them for months and no help.

Had AerLingus to France in mid July cancelled 2 days ago.
Last couple of weeks all the flights were marked sold out.

AerLingus seem to be acting so slow.

Pretty sure sold out implies they are cancelled

Aerlingus do not appear to be flying to any additional destinations (bar UK and core EU destinations they are currently flying to) until 20 July

I am due to fly to Lanzarote on on 3rd July with AerLingus. According to their website today, they are now waiving change fees up to 30th September (it was previously 30th June).
If the flight is still scheduled to fly (there is no way of confirming that currently) I am going to do nothing until 2nd July. Then I will just choose some new dates for next year (they will no doubt be useless to me as I cannot book flights more than 1 year away, so I will need to change them again in 4 weeks to get actual summer dates). So sit tight. The flight will in all likelihood be cancelled for you.

PS. I was also booked to fly to Kaunas (Lithuania) with Ryanair for late July. That was cancelled for me, at least 4 weeks ago... Ryanair did a better job of giving advance notice with cancellations I think.

Aer Lingus' 13:00 departure flights, and 18:20 return flights to Lanzarote are confirmed. Flights at other times are cancelled for the moment. If you are not on the confirmed flights you can get you booking moved to those flights free of charge, or get a refund.

Hopefully this ridiculous 14 day quarantine requirement will be dropped by the 1st of July.

DAA who run the airports are loosing €1m a day, and cutting up to 1,000 jobs, Aer Lingus want to cut 500.

The longer tourists don't come to Ireland or people feel free to leave the country then the worse it gets for those who's jobs are at risk.

In the same limbo as yourself. Been told no claim eith the insurance will be entertained until the date of departure & 'if' the non essential travel advise iss till in place. Even then have been reliably informed its unlikely they'll pay out if the flight leaves anyway & we choose not to travel.
