Hi there, bought a deep fat fryer in Argos 3litre of oil, thinking it would be plenty big for us a family of 4! No!.. realised after i bought it that it only holds 1kg of food! So cant put on a batch of chips big enough for all of us, let alone chips and sausages for example ! Seems to be the case with most of them im looking up? We just want an occasional "real" chip and dont want to be doing a few batches to have a meal! Anyone know of a fryer that has a large food capacity? Were deep fat fryers much bigger in the 80s or are me and my husband imagining things?!

Power City have a 5 litre unit for 79.99, it's an open fryer but with a full cover and comes with one big and two small baskets so you can do one big batch or split the chips and sausages into separate baskets ... https://powercity.ie/product/209498

To go bigger, you'd probably need to look at a catering supplier like Nisbetts, they will supply retail customers but be sure to tick the 'incl VAT' option in the upper right corner so you don't get a nasty shock when you go to check out.....

Thanks a million, you went to a lot of trouble! Power City one might work, pity no lid while frying only thing, but at least its a decent size!! And thanks for catering company link!

 The instruction manual says different ......
    • Allow the appliance to preheat for approximately 15 minutes with the oil or liquid fat at the desired temperature.
    • Put the food in the basket and subsequently place the basket in the appliance. Be extra careful and watch out for spatters. Then put the lid on the appliance.
