Hello, sorry if this has been posted before but I have a query regarding Sky TV. So I currently have Virgin Media (TV & Broadband) in my house, partially because SKY Fibre isn’t available at my address and Virgin offer high speed internet which is superb. I now need to get a Racing TV subscription which is not available on Virgin Media but only on Sky. I don’t really want to have to change my whole TV and Broadband package in order to get one channel, so my question is; can I buy a Sky Box & Satellite off Donedeal, Adverts etc and install it, and then subscribe to Racing TV and have the channel added to the viewing card? I want to make sure this is possible before firing up a satellite on the house and later finding out its not possible. Thanks and apologies if its already been posted! ;)

It is on Virgin Media. Channel 411.€26pm is a bit steep admittedly, but it is there.

Oh, and it’s called Racing TV now, since they picked up rights to Irish racing.

Sorry I meant to say Racing TV HD. The HD is what I want as can get basic Racing TV through Betfair feeds. Virgin doesn’t offer HD

    Short answer - yes.
Buy a second hand Sky HD box, pair a card and away you go.
Your sub also allows you to stream Racing TV on any android device, so for example you can load the Racing TV on a FireStick and watch the various feeds through TV. However you will not get HD that way.
If you want a really good quality picture then go down the Sky route.
You can also use the box to get all FTA channels including ITV HD (useful for Royal Ascot this week which is a track no longer on Racing TV)

Thanks for that. I got myself a box, which had a card in it with an expired sub. Im having difficulty in getting sky to either a) send me a free to air card which i can then add the racing tv to or b) pairing the card i have in the box now with the box as i get this message currently 'Your Sky viewing card needs to be paired to your SKY+HD box.' Any ideas?

Sky dont provide FTA cards here if I read correctly in the past. Just the UK.

Unless you are a Sky subscriber there's no way they would pair a card for you.

I think the provider of the service has the ability to pair the cards?

Is that not how the Eir Sport channels were provided to those who did not have Sky subs?
