Just wondering how long its taking these days to get a log book. I bought a new vehicle last week and just wondering how long it should take for the change of ownership to go through with the current Covid restrictions

I'd say 5 to 10 days at max. Have you looked on motortax.ie to see if is getting processed?

My father bought a car on a Thursday and had the new logbook the following Tuesday.

When you say new car do you mean brand new or newly imported? If so then the logbook won't be issued until you first tax the car.

I checked the website the other day and nothing yet. Not a new car but a Irish reg car from a independent dealer

Proper dealers can transfer ownership online these days so it goes through almost overnight on the motortax website. If they are a small time dealer then they have to do it the old fashion way assuming they got the old logbook from the previous owner. Did they get you to sign the change of ownership section on the back of the old logbook?
