Golf mk5 boot won't open

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice please.

I have a Golf mk5 and the boot won't open. If I put down the seats at the back I can get into the boot and open it from the inside. Over the last few months it occasionally wouldn't open but if I tried again later in the day or after driving it usually would open.

I've googled this and it seems to be a common enough problem with this generation of Golf. Has anyone here had the same problem with their Golf? Does anyone know if there is an easy fix for this or am I as well going to a mechanic? Thanks.

It's the microswitch fails in the VW boot badge
You can buy new or what most people do with a car of that age is pick up one from a local scrapyard etc
Alternatively, try Adverts, Donedeal or eBay

Lots of videos on Youtube showing how to change them
Had same issue myself with my last B6 Passat

[EDIT] Found a video for a Golf [/EDIT]

Worth checking the wiring from the body to the boot lid, especially the passenger side, peel back the rubber and check for a broken wire there first. Simple fix then.
