I was thinking of travelling with family in July/August. My choices are either Los Angeles, or Nice,France.

I'm not really concerned about coronavirus but whether we'll be allowed into the US or not. Seeing as my mother has never been there and got her passport only a few weeks ago, how long would it take to get an ESTA for her?

I wouldn't go to the US without travel insurance. You'll be travelling against DFA advice ,so will be voided. At least for France you can bring your E111.

As it currently stands you won't be allowed into the US (unless you have citizenship/green cards) so I'd remove that from your list. Why LA anyway? One of the most grim "cities" to visit.

So much info out there, all that I have managed to piece together is that Ireland are enforcing the 14 day quarantine until "at least the end of June" and a report in Independent.ie said last night it'll be reviewed on July 9th (unsure if true?).

So if the quarantine doesn't bother you or your employer I would say go ahead in Europe - but any country you are going to look at their department of foreign affairs / travel website to see what the procedure is when entering the country, some in Asia such as Cambodia are requiring mad things like $3000 for a test or something.

If it's in EU - there are already a number of countries where you can travel to now with virtually no restriction such as Austria/Portugal etc

I myself want to book girlfriend and I away for 3/4 nights in July to Germany/Greece - it doesn't bother me at all as I work for myself, but she's a bit of a "do-gooder" and her small company of less than 10 employees are being awkward.

I think I'll convince her that we just fly from Belfast and back to Belfast, employer needs to be none the wiser.

Agree with this. I wouldn’t even think about going to the US without insurance
