Does the zgemma H7 4k upscale everything or can you set resolution?

The H7S zgemma is getting a lot of posts on here but as its a 4K box it has me intrigued in that no mention is made of its resolution settings. Does it upscale everything or can resolution be set as 720p, 1080i, 1080p?

And is the picture quality as good as the Tiviar + set at 1080i?

The resolution can be set. One of the first things the box does upon booting for the very first time is give you a list of output resolutions to choose from.

Can't compare with the Tiviar (as I don't have one), but I came from a Humax freesat box and can tell no noticeable difference in picture quality.

I have a H7S and used have Sky. Maybe it's my bias, but I think some channels (the HD ones) are slightly better quality on the Zgemma over the Sky box we used have.

In addtion to above, you can set 2160p as a resolution and it will upscale assuming you've a TV that can handle the signal. My experience of upscaling has been mixed. I've set resolution back to 1080p as there is no proper 4k content yet on Sat and the upscale on the 1080p picture seem a bit clearer. Or perhaps I'm imagining it?

    Thanks all. Very useful.

And no apparently good HD upscaled to 2160 can look better. The biggest problem is a 4k tv that upScales everything and then you have problems unless its all netflix, sky q, amazon prime in UHD.

The Zgemma H7S uses the same same Arm chipset as the Mutant HD51 .
The picture quality will be better with these boxes as the Arm Cpu gives a better picture than Mips based receivers ,like the Tiviar.

Regarding upscaling ,you can either let the receiver do it or the tv .
Some devices are better than others at upscaling so they may give different results .
One way or another the picture has to be upscaled if its connected to a 4k tv.
