small narrow bed that can double as a sofa???

We have a very small room that needs a bed and comfortable seat. There is no way to fit both so our plan had been to get a chair bed from Ikea but it is one on of the products that Ikea are not delivering these days.

    So I need alternatives.

The area where the bed needs to go is 190 cm (from skirting board to skirting board) by 68 cm (from skirting board to radiator).

There are beds shorter than 190cm so the width would not be affected by radiator but a wide bed would not be comfortable couch.

There is no sofa bed that will fit. I found short sofas but too short to double as a bed because of the arm rests.

Putting a bed on the other side of the room is not an option - radiator to wall is even shorter plus a bed would block entrance as there there is also a wardrobe.

I've been in touch with a company in Dublin that makes custom beds but I'm guessing it will be very expensive and we are on a tight budget with this.

    Anybody got ideas for me?

    Tricky one.

A self-build might not be too expensive - you may easily find a local cabinet-maker or kitchen builder who will knock it up for you:

The kind of thing you often see in eg camper-vans and boats: basically a rectangular wooden frame, topped with slats, and then a thick cube of dense upholstery foam. Two pieces, - a "mattress" and a back. Cover these with fabric.

I've known this to work where the sofa/bed was only two feet wide!

I had not thought of that but got out dealing with local years ago.

They all know my father and he is around wanting the job that he will leave unfinished before the phone call is finished.

Might be some new guys around these days and it would be a simple straightforward job. Not finding anything on Google though - might need different phrases.
