How do travellers tolerate living in such cramped conditions?

I'm just saying, a man needs his peace and quiet from time to time.

    .....

From what I can tell, there can be up to 7 or 8 of them dudes crammed into one ridiculously small living space.

    I reminded of that scene,

I can't even tolerate sharing an entire house with 4 or 5 other dudes, and that's with an entire bedroom to myself.

Anyone know exactly how this works out?

PS - I raise this specifically because I'm looking at accommodation in Dublin at the moment, and cramped living conditions seem to be what constitutes primary availability. Just curious how some folk actually embrace the shoebox lifestyle.
