Disposal of wheels

    Hi!

I lost a hubcap on my polo and I was shocked when I saw the price on VW hubcaps. I actually found a set of same size used wheels (14 inch) for the same price. They will need new tyres but I need to replace mine (at least the two in the front) already so this wouldn't be a problem.

Living in an apartment I can't store the old wheels and they are probably worth nothing. I have two options. Bring the car and 4 wheels to the garage and get them to change the rear onto the new wheels and get two front ones or either get 4 new tyres. What are my options if I were to get rid of 4 wheels with the tyres on? I guess no metal recycling business will take them with the tyres on. I don't know either what kind of money a garage can ask for changing a tyre to a new wheel without buying a new tyre.

It's only an 05 car and I wouldnt want to spend a lot of money getting rid of the old ones

    Thanks!!

Most tyre shops charge between €10-€25 a wheel to fit a tyre you didn't purchase from them.
Just throw up an add on market place saying they are free. Leave them outside for pick up I'm sure they'll be gone. Some people can't help themselves with stuff like that for free.
Get the new tyres on the new wheels chuck the old ones in the boot and back, throw the add up and bobs your uncle.

Some tyre shops will take old tyres, others complain, some might take old wheels. Ring ahead and shop around.

Get your car 4 wheel tracked and balanced while you're at it
