Jobseekers Allowance and casual work

I have been on JSA for the past 18 months but might be offered the chance of some casual work. It looks like it could be quite irregular work with between 1 and 3 days a week maybe and there might be weeks without work.

What is my situation with JSA? Do I just inform them of the days I work and how do they calculate my payment?

    Thank you.

You will be asked to complete casual dockets, where you indicate which days you work. They will calculate your average wage over a reference period, and then dock you a certain amount for each day you work. For weeks you work 4 days or more, you will not receive a payment.

You are allowed to earn 20 Euro each day (max 3 days) without it affecting your payment. Anything above this, they deduct 60% of the balance. So for example if you work three days and get 50 euro per day, you will lose 18 euro per day, or a total of 54 euro (50-20=30 x60%=18)
