    Hi All

Can anyone confirm that I have this thought process right.

I am looking to buy a pick up from the UK and import it.

I work for a company where it will be incredibly useful for me to have a 4x4, as I visit very remote areas as past of my work. Currently my estate car is getting alot of abuse driving down forest roads and farm lanes.

So, is the following stated correct?

I buy pick up from uk
Get a letter from work stating car will be used for purposes of job.
Pay lower vrt as it's for work
    Pay commercial tax band?

I will be using the vehicle as my car on weekends so there is always that grey area to deal with.

Thanks for any advice on this.

A lot of pickups in the North do not have the Vat paid on them so you may have to pay vat either in the UK or here. You won't need a letter from your employer but you will need a signed RF111a goods decaration form, as well as a valid DOE cert. You will also need a commercial insurance policy to get commercial tax
