    Hi everyone!

Just looking for bit of advice for a car for my dad to change car. He currently has a 2016 Opel Corsa (20,000 miles roughly) looking to trade up to a new 202 or ex Demo 201 small mileage Petrol car (Corsa/Ibiza/Fiesta etc) Brand not hugely important as is spec (he’s not a tech guy at all - I think even half decent spec for trade in for 3-4 years time might help). His max budget would be around 12k but would prefer to spend max 10k with trade in if possible. Only 2 quotes come back so far. Toyota want 10k to trade up to base model Yaris and Seat want 12k to go up to an SE plus Ibiza. Still waiting on Ford/Opel/Skoda to come to me. Any ideas if this is good deal? Toyota doing 3 years free servicing also. I think the new Corsa has a lot going for it spec wise on the SC which could be handy trade in wise.

As I said he’s not into tech at all and wouldn’t use phone connection/cruise control etc etc. just wants a new or nearly new car to do local driving and twice a year maybe down the country that is hassle free maintenance wise and decent on fuel. He just won’t go near a Peugeot as he had one before and it was nothing but hassle (30 years ago mind you, but he won’t touch one)

    Cheers for any advice!

The new Corsa is a Peugeot now.

Does he really actually need a new car though, is he trading up because he thinks he needs to?

    Ruin his day altogether.

FWIW being taken over by Peugeot/Citroen is vastly improving Opels cars.

Doesn’t need to just wants to. He gets paranoid about cars breaking down once they become 5 years old! Had a lot of bad luck with cars before so wants hassle free cars pref with a warranty. Mind you most people don’t need a new car they just want one I guess.

I would only buy a new car or zero mileage preregistration then. Not a demo.

Maybe look at something like the Kia Picanto or Rio. They have a 7 year /160k warranty.
I think he’s mad spending that given his own car is only barely run in. Some basic maintenance is all it needs to stay as reliable as a new car.

He's driving a nearly new car!! I would keep for another 4 years and just look after it. Making car dealers rich with his hard earned cash can't be what he really wants to spend his money on??

There’s a new Fabia on the way within the next year so if he likes Skoda I would be inclined to wait for that. Also the base spec years is not very exciting

Ibiza SE plus wouldn’t be a bad move

The new corsa is the new Peugeot 208 and is the best looking car in that class in years the interior is quite hi tech so it might not appeal to your father every other small car just look boring compared to the Peugeot

He ended up ordering SC premium model (he wanted the parking sensors and auto headlights!) in the dark grey metallic, looks nice. Trading up 4 years, got the 161 for 12500 in 2017 and getting a trade in of 10k and 750 back from Opel, so net to change is 9250 which i don't think is too bad..... didn't know a Corsa now is basically 20k! Still haven't told him its a Peugeot! Not gonna lie, I'm jealous of the heated steering wheel (which Im sure he wont use)! Interestingly there was up to 2,500 difference in Opel dealers to change... worth shopping around

I got the 208 GT auto a few months ago and i'm very happy with it.
Yes the interior is hi tech but is very easy to use. and for a small car its very roomy inside. I'm getting 5.7 Litre per 100l not bad i think. And i think it could get better with a little help :D by me :pac:

They look great in gt spec and definitely suit lighter colours could be on the potential next car list as size wise they would be grand think second hand values on them will be strong

Sounds like a good deal - coming up 4.5 years so that’s roughly 2000 a year, and the new model is a far superior car to the old one so he’s dead right to change up.

Your right i have see them in black but they standout better in the lighter colours
I went for the Faro Yellow and love the colour,
I must post a few pictures later.

Really love the new Corsa and the 208. Best looking cars in that class IMO.
Corsa can get expensive higher up the range but the lower ones are well specced to be fair.
Very acceptable size for people that want something reasonable- will take sales off the Astra (which has been selling poorly already).
