Apartment inspection

The apartment that we rent undergoes an inspection about once a year. Under normal circumstances it's an inconvenience, but we go along with it. However we just got a message the other day trying to pin down a date for an inspection this month. With everything that has been going on though (you know, the pandemic ), we're really not comfortable with the idea of having a stranger in the apartment.

Where do we stand on this though? Can we just say no? I know there's probably some legal requirement in relation to health and safety that they're trying to fulfill, but it just feels like a box ticking exercising. Surely it's more important that we keep our close contacts to the lowest possible number at this time, as per government advice?

Estate agents returned to work last week. They have protocols in place for carrying out inspections and ensuring social distancing and all government advice is adhered to.

Explain your concerns and ask them what measures they plan to take while carrying out their inspection. Hopefully they can put you at ease.
