What do lads mean when they say 'would suit export' or 'good for export'.

I asked about a van on donedeal today for work, and the guy replied saying 'it would probably be better suited for export'.

Why would it not suit me but yet great for exporting it somewhere else?

    Thanks guys

Usually old Toyota’s and Nissans etc that can be exported to Africa for good money- practically scrap value here but in big demand out there, especially the vans.
I think they were even snapping up old Avensis diesels at one stage.

What might be close to end of life here but would have many years left on them in Africa. They have an abundance of spare parts for stuff like old Hiace vans over there and the know how to source and replace them.

Means not a hope of getting a test on it.

Yeah, my understanding was that it starts and drives but is rough as a bears arse.

Usually needs more than the cars worth in bushings and bearings or shocks and tyres are a writeoff. Anyone outting it in an ad is atleast being half honest about how much if a shed the car is

There's big business in it. A lad I know is in transport and he has a group of regular Nigerian clients who fill a container with these things every few months and ship it off to Lagos. I'd say the sellers are appealing directly to the likes of those lads. No need to worry about tax/test/paperwork, easy sale.

Less road testing procedures in some countries.

I sold my dads Hiace a few years back and it went straight to Africa.

Also some cars generate a large VRT rebate when exporting.
