I applied for this and have just received email for online assessment. Here's the thing I'm in my mid 40s . Would I be considered too old and if so am I wasting my time. Or the fact I got the email does it mean they consider all age groups.

The email is probably automated to a point

It really depends on what the apprenticeship is for.

You do well in the assessment you will most likely get an interview. At this stage you can explain your motivations to apply, your skills etc. A big company like Zurich has needs for all sorts of people.

Is it just a general apprenticeship? Your skillset and any qualifications might help people give more advice

Is this the Insurance apprenticeship through IT Sligo? If yes, then it's very new - maybe in its third or fourth year now - I am not sure exactly how competitive it is. Insurance was never really pushed as a career option when I was starting out anyway! From what I know of the course, you'll get great experience.

Do the online assessment regardless - Never a waste of time to get practice on these things.

Definitely nothing to lose. Like Gypsy says above when it comes to an interview you can make a virtue out of your experience.

How you were unfocused when you were younger but now you know exactly what you want.

How you are not the typical candidate but you have years of life and work experience.

How you can absolutely be relied on to work hard and excel because you have no time to waste.

How you are making a huge leap/ taking a big risk and are determined to make it a success.

    Good luck ðŸ‘

I run a graduate program at work and at least half the positions we give end up going to mature students. The life experience is almost always massively beneficial and we've had people older than you come in and do great. This is a strength if you leverage it right

I'm involved in hiring in Insurance - What I will say is that the number of applicants for any given position is normally very low compared to other industries / other types of positions. As this is entry level it may be different, but I'd suspect maybe not.

Online assessment will be automated and you'll either pass or fail - But after that, what'll make you stand out will be interview preparation and genuine interest in the course / the position. If you get to interview, make sure you sell why you are interested in moving into Insurance, highlight your desire to get further qualifications etc.

    Best of luck!

Apologies for bumping an an old thread but I'm just curious to see did you get to the final round?

Hopefully you did and I'll see you on Friday!

As an aside, has anyone any idea what the starting salary is?

Yeah. Got to final round. Expecting to be the grandad of the group. Best of luck to you.
