    https://www.ae.com/intl/en/

some might find this useful - not bad quality and with no shipping cost and they pay any duty / vat due on an order of $50 or more

use revolut or similar as your paypal card for best exchange rate

if you create a user account you'll also get a code to your email giving you another 10% off (although works out a bit less on the end bill for some reason)

I bought some AE clothes in the states years ago , nice gear but disintegrated after a few washes.
Now this was probably close to 20 years ago but stayed away from them ever since

But isn't that calculated on arrival and you are required to pay for it on delivery or at collection point. Cash only aswell.

You got unlucky or washed them in acid.

I have been buying AE cargo shorts for at least that long. I'm wearing them right now and in lockdown have almost every day since the weather heated up. They are really tough, hard wearing, and well-made in my experience.

I used to buy in the States too and was good stuff and still have some of it. Sadly everything I looked at is "out of stock" so not a bargain at all. Really annoying they leave stuff online when its not available unless you are 26" waist.

I was able to get a few things yesterday eve in normal sizes

with sale clearance items they are probably running out of stock on those

a friend of mine has gotten delivery so defo no issues with extra charges

I believe American Eagle distribute from Europe now so possible that shipping is from within the EU, i.e. no customs etc. due..

    Great news.

Every time I'm in the states I pick up AE jeans. I find they fit better than any other jeans I buy and they also last a very long time, specifically for the price.

    Not too shabby.. thanks OP.

Everything I'm in the US for work, them and Gap are my first visits in outlet malls... sale stuff not quite as good value as the outlet malls but even their boxer shorts at under a tenner isn't bad.

Great quality clothes to be fair.

Companies can bulk enter and self declare and pay duties / vat on behalf of the consumer.

A company based in swords, eshopworld, does it through their technology for many non eu stores shipping into the EU. (and cross borders worldwide)

Amazon.com also does it, so does ebay.com I think (if the seller opts in)

Ghastly stuff, an American label for people who thought Guineys was haute couture. Group with Gap and Old Navy for the mundane American stores that a lot of Irish people seem to love

I preferred GANT, that was until they changed their logo to be less ‘American’ and I subsequently discovered they were actually Swedish.

Redskyeurope a fulfillment company in Kilkenny will have American brands ( small independent brands) stored in Kilkenny in bulk to supply on line orders for Europe,

ah now they are ok for basic items with none or discrete smaller branding on them.

you're probably just tetchy because you were up so early to queue for Penny's.

I accidentally set foot in a Penney's once. I witnessed hordes of peasants jostling on a bargain rail for the larger sizes. I could not believe what I was seeing. I thought my monocle had become displaced. Upon return to my home, I bathed thrice and burned the garments I had worn.

I was wondering about returns in case jeans size was wrong but their site says "At this time, we do not process exchange orders for purchases made from http://ae.com/intl"
    So be warned

You'd be right there, I ordered a good few t shirts, shirts and shorts from them about 2 years ago and the quality was appalling.

The t shirts were very loose and lost their shape, but then again the clothes can be dirt cheap.

    Wouldn't buy again.

That's me out. I'll stick with asos and Gap who have no issues with returns. Hollister and Abercrombie are another shower of ****wits don't make returns easy, so I pass.

I think 'Exchange Orders' means returning an item for exchange (e.g. change size), as distinct from a straight return of item.

You absolutely can return items and get a refund for them. It would be illegal as far as I know to sell into the EU and not allow return of item under distance selling.

Anyway, I ordered some items, they arrived (ordered Sun, arrived Friday not bad) and all perfect bar one hoodie that I reckon is one size too big. On the delivery note there was a clear line giveing the URL for return info, and on that URL there is a clear procedure. AE.COM/RETURNS is the URL.

You have to pay shipping to return (which is generally standard), and they don't refund any shipping from the original order (also standard enough practice - and besides my order had free shipping anyway).

I'm happy enough with all of that, I will get €20 plus back on my card for a top I wouldn't have worn.

Quality seems good on everything, thank you OP, good bargain alert!

Yeah I received my order too. Love their jeans. Everything I got fit perfectly! Very happy

got 2 of the 4 items ordered.

Their Ne(x)t jeans are very light and comfortable and fit well - different technology used in them compared to other makers.
