    Hi All,
I've trying to wire up the Hive Controller, currently there is the Immermat Flash controller:
    Flash-Timer-Immermat-31110-Side-View-Photo.jpg

It's currently wired as per the attachment.

Which wires go into where on the Hive Controller?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You can find the book for the Immersat online , that will tell you what each wire is - presuming its been working as expected to date.

Out of interest - Why are you changing to a Hive ? Are you a heating only setup ? I dont think you have seperate hot water or anything like that in your current wiring.

    Dual or single channel hive?

I’ve been trying to find the wiring info for the immerstat online but can’t find it.

This controller is for the gas boiler, it controls the gas heating which also heats the water.
Not sure if that is dual or not, I’m no expert in this field 😢

Look at the hive pics you posted. Which one do you have. Btw the dual one will be of no benefit to you when just replacing the existing timer.

    It’s the dual channel receiver

That’s no problem, I just want to be able to turn on the heating from the couch

Do you know how to isolate your existing timer from the mains? Do you have and know how to use a multimeter?

I am being cautious here as I have no idea of your ability.

Isolate - I know where the switch on the fuse board is to turn it off

Multimeter - no idea how to use that

I’m brutal when it comes to electrics, I’ve taken off the wiring for the immerstat and put it back on without electrocuting myself

I would say it might be worth getting someone in who knows what they are doing for your own sake.

The Hive and Nest are fairly delicate in terms of electronic components in comparison to your existing timer which could survive a nuclear bomb and keep ticking.

Wire it up wrong and you could potentially end up having to buy a new one.

Is there not just a standard way of wiring it based on what I have already?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 6,382 Mod ✭✭✭✭Wearb

Yes, but not certain of what you have without testing. E.g. you have a neutral link on your timer that I don't understand why it's there.

No 1 (your brown) to L on Hive
No 2 (your blue) to N on Hive
No 4 (your black) to 3 on Hive (single channel) or 4 for central heating on dual channel

For single channel Hive, then you will need a link wire from L to No 1 to make the switching 240v (no link wires required on dual channel Hive.

Best safe, isolate and test before attempting any electrical work, and if your not competent, get someone who is.

    ENJOY!

Thanks for that, I’ll try that out and have my emergency contact on stand by :)

The first time I tried any electrical work I shocked the begorrah out of myself twice, so I’ll definitely be cautious here

Always be safe, isolate the whole house at the fuse board if needed, and always use a tester to ensure the wires you are going to work on are dead

Aswel, remember to have your Hive-Hub plugged in and ready (flashing orange) before you power on your receiver for the first time.

Hi, sorry to bother you again with this, but I have 4 seperate wires. All are accounted for by what you said except the third one, does that not do anything?

could be a low voltage system, or did you have two channels (heat and hot water?)

A pic of the old clock and wiring will help me to guide you
